PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinn Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saint Peter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ice Cube - It Was a Dood Day. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Quinn Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saint Peter!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peter throws the left hand but Johnson avoids the punch easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Johnson misses the target.
Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice body punch from Johnson.
Good shot there by Johnson.
Peter walks into a left hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Peter to the mat! Peter manages to get full guard.
Peter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Peter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Peter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Peter takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Johnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Peter. Peter circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.

Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Good work by Peter as he checks the leg kick.
Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Peter thows a body kick. Johnson tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Peter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Johnson.
Peter throws a hook but Johnson avoids it easily.
Saint Peter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peter moves into the clinch.

Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson swings for the body but Peter moves out of range.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Peter - that will leave a mark!
Johnson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Johnson scores with a one two! Peter had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Peter moves out of range as Johnson throws a body kick.
Peter misses with a combination
and Johnson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peter circles away quickly and effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinn Johnson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Johnson misses with a looping right.
Peter gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Peter closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Quinn Johnson has been cut.
Peter throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Peter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Johnson misses with a straight left.
Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Peter's guard.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Peter tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand.
Johnson throws the left hand but Peter avoids the punch easily.
Peter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnson manages to avoid it.
Quinn Johnson is winning the standup battle so far.
Johnson misses with a double jab.
Quinn Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Johnson cracks Peter with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Johnson in side control, throwing shots but Peter defends.
Peter is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Johnson is controlling him well.
Peter is looking to regain half guard here but Johnson keeps moving and retains side control.
Johnson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Peter some visible discomfort.

Johnson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Saint Peter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Peter on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Johnson keeps the fight on the outside.
Peter misses with a series of wild punches.

Johnson's corner calls for a 1-2. Johnson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Johnson lands a nice shot that snaps Peter's head back.

Peter is rocked!
BOOM! Johnson lands a beautiful left hook that drops Peter. Peter tries to recover but Johnson is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Peter lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Quinn Johnson!
