Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yago Gutierrez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adrian Bacevich!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bacevich uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gutierrez.
Gutierrez slips a jab and a cross from Bacevich.
Gutierrez shoots in and bounces Bacevich off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gutierrez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bacevich swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bacevich is trying to control the position but Gutierrez postures up.
Gutierrez throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gutierrez content to stall in guard here.
Bacevich can't keep his opponent in guard - Gutierrez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Bacevich is trying to maintain the position but Gutierrez is very close to passing his half guard.
Bacevich is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Gutierrez wants to pass the guard but Bacevich is defending well.
Bacevich tries to roll over but Gutierrez keeps him under control.
Gutierrez wants to pass to mount but Bacevich is defending the position.
Gutierrez seems to be working for a kimura but Bacevich defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gutierrez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gutierrez mounts Bacevich! Really nice guard pass there!
Bacevich tries to hold on but Gutierrez pushes him away.
Gutierrez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bacevich can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bacevich really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gutierrez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gutierrez is working for a guillotine from mount but Bacevich frees his head quite easily.

Bacevich throwing hammer fists to the chest of Gutierrez. What's that going to do exactly?
A nice elbow there by Gutierrez.
Bacevich tries to hold on but Gutierrez pushes him away.
Bacevich's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gutierrez looking to control but Bacevich is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gutierrez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Gutierrez wants to take Bacevich's back here but Bacevich is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Gutierrez lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Gutierrez is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Gutierrez!
