The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asmundsen looks to throw the jab but McGuire is out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McGuire! But no joy.
Asmundsen throws a wild body kick that McGuire sees coming a mile off.
McGuire needs to keep his hands up - Asmundsen had a free shot at his head there.
Asmundsen defending well as McGuire loads up on a big left hand.
Asmundsen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McGuire now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

We've been informed that McGuire has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
McGuire tries to score with a low kick but Asmundsen moves his leg out of the way.

McGuire cracks Asmundsen with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. McGuire has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Asmundsen to stand back up!

McGuire dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Asmundsen. That did some damage!
McGuire tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Asmundsen was well out of range. Poor timing from McGuire.

Asmundsen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McGuire on the side of the head.

Asmundsen tries to close the distance and clinch but McGuire swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

It looked like Asmundsen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

McGuire sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
McGuire throws a jab but it's blocked by Asmundsen.

McGuire lands a big head kick that sends Asmundsen to the canvas! McGuire follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

After winning the bout, Lathem McGuire thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
