Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zak Foley (ranked 913 p4p, 1477 weight class) and Don Barnes (ranked 136 p4p, 206 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zak Foley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Foley moves away.
Barnes looks to score with a jab to the body but Foley is just out of range.
Barnes throws out a loose jab but Foley uses good head movement to avoid it.
It looked like Foley was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Barnes.
Zak Foley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Foley lands with a nice body kick.
Foley throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Foley throws a low kick, looking for Barnes's leg but Barnes calmly moves out of range.
Foley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Foley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Foley pushes Barnes away with a front kick.
Foley lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Foley.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnes lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Barnes has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Barnes wants to slow Foley down by chopping away at his legs.

Foley fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Barnes on the side of the head.
Barnes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Foley misses with a looping right.
Foley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Barnes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Barnes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Foley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Foley has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Barnes has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Foley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Foley preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Foley lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Foley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barnes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Foley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Barnes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Foley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Barnes wants to stand and escape but Foley is having none of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zak Foley will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Barnes moves out of range of the strikes.
Left hook, right uppercut from Barnes.
Foley is looking to slow Barnes down with leg kicks.

Barnes misses with a wild body shot.
Barnes walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Foley throws a jab but it's blocked by Barnes.
Barnes fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Foley's guard.

Foley uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Foley lands a big head kick that sends Barnes tumbling to the mat! Foley takes a step backwards and waves Barnes back to his feet - he wants the finish!

No joy there for Foley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Foley throws the left hand but Barnes avoids the punch easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Barnes seems to have recovered his senses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Barnes crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Foley - the referee stops the clock and Barnes gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Foley. Barnes manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Barnes.
Barnes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Foley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barnes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Foley manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Foley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Barnes can do to turn this around?

Barnes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barnes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barnes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zak Foley.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Foley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
