Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Walker (ranked 1546 p4p, 1660 weight class) and Guilherme Carvalho (ranked 201 p4p, 213 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Guilherme Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Carvalho. That snapped Walker's head back.
Carvalho has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

and Walker counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Carvalho!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carvalho looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Walker wants to take his opponent's back but Carvalho doesn't allow it.

Walker has hold of Carvalho's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Carvalho manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

I really don't envy Carvalho right now.

Walker is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Carvalho defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

and Walker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carvalho's guard.

Walker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carvalho has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Walker has managed to get both his arms back between Carvalho's legs - danger averted.

Walker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carvalho, who protects the arm well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Carvalho for as long as he can get away with.
Carvalho is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Walker is working for a rear naked choke. Carvalho is not defending it well and Walker has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Carvalho refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Carvalho's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

After the fight, George Walker was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
