The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mallon throws a leg kick but Overeem sees it coming and checks it nicely.
A solid body kick from Overeem.
Overeem tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mallon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Overeem tries to clinch there but Mallon circles away.
Some wild striking there from Overeem.
Overeem throws a wild body kick that Mallon sees coming a mile off.
Mallon takes one on the button.

It looks like Matt Mallon has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Overeem throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mallon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Overeem counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mallon looks gassed!

A slapping body kick lands there for Overeem.
Overeem looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Overeem lands with a thumping leg kick.
Overeem misses with a jab, cross combination.
Overeem wants to clinch up but Mallon keeps it at a distance.
Overeem scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Overeem throws a nice head kick!

Overeem tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mallon paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Overeem fails in his attempt to clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Overeem.
Mallon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Overeem scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mallon doesn't seem bothered though.
Mallon circles away from the clinch attempt.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Overeem.
Overeem misses with a jab, cross combination.
Overeem lands with a slapping head kick.

That has opened up Matt Mallon's cut even more.

Overeem fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mallon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mallon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Overeem.
Overeem misses with an attempted mid kick.

Overeem throws a head kick that half lands.

The cut above Matt Mallon's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Mallon takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Matt Mallon's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Matt Mallon's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
