Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 882 p4p, 2902 weight class) and Yoji Anjo Anjo (ranked 127 p4p, 348 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yoji Anjo Anjo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendy throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mendy keeps the fight on the outside.
Mendy attempts a counter takedown but Anjo avoids it well and moves away.
Mendy takes a swing at Anjo's ribcage but misses.
Mendy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Anjo.
Anjo tries to clinch there but Mendy circles away.
Anjo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mendy lands a glancing blow to the side of Anjo's head.

Anjo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mendy tries to roll over but Anjo keeps him under control.

Mendy has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Anjo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Mendy is trying to drag Anjo to the mat but Anjo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Anjo wants to take the fight to the mat but Mendy manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Anjo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mendy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Anjo wants to sweep here but Mendy controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anjo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mendy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mendy throws a strike but Anjo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mendy wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Anjo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mendy defends well and Anjo ends up having to push Mendy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Anjo dives in for a single leg takedown but Mendy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Anjo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Anjo moves away from the strike by Mendy.
Anjo swings for the body but Mendy moves out of range.

Mendy misses with a series of wild punches.

Anjo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mendy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Mendy is trying to stick to Anjo's back but Anjo is turning into Mendy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mendy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Anjo.
Anjo is fighting to break Mendy's control of his arms but Mendy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Pierre Ragout Mendy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mendy winds up and cracks Anjo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mendy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
