PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rigor Mortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boneless Bangus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rigor Mortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Boneless Bangus!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bangus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mortiz looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Bangus decides to stand back up.

Mortiz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mortiz landing a few strikes.
Bangus avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mortiz.
Mortiz throwing strikes but Bangus manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Mortiz throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Bangus sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mortiz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Bangus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mortiz keeps working.
Bangus throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Bangus stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Bangus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mortiz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bangus sprawls well initially but Mortiz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bangus looks like he's trying to stand up.
Bangus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bangus misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Mortiz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bangus takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Mortiz wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mortiz throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Mortiz throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bangus slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Bangus wants to stand but Mortiz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bangus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mortiz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bangus is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mortiz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bangus counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mortiz misses with a takedown attempt
and Bangus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rigor Mortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bangus misses with a few strikes there.

Mortiz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mortiz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rigor Mortiz will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Boneless Bangus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bangus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mortiz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mortiz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Boneless Bangus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bangus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
