Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Duncan Shepard (ranked 3517 p4p, 3995 weight class) and Matt Murdok (ranked 413 p4p, 457 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepard bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Murdok works over Shepard's head and body with a nice combination.
A combination from Murdok does no damage.
Shepard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shepard misses the shot to the body.
Shepard looks to land a left hand but Murdok moved out of range nicely.
Murdok throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matt Murdok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Murdok is trying to control the position but Shepard postures up.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shepard drops Murdok with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Murdok looks back up at him and smiles so Shepard waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Shepard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shepard lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Murdok up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Shepard from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Murdok's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
