Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jens Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Sander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roger Sander looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jens Pulver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Sander!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pulver drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Pulver wants to stand and escape but instead Sander has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Sander stops Pulver from standing up.
Sander controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Pulver pushes Sander off and scrambles back to his feet.
Pulver scores with a body shot.
Pulver moves in looking to clinch but Sander pushes him off.
Pulver misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pulver has a takedown stuffed.
Sander keeps the fight on the outside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pulver is looking to clinch.
Pulver tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sander swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pulver gets a clinch.
Sander goes for a takedown attempt but Pulver pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Pulver shoots in and bounces Sander off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pulver wants to get up but he can't break Sander's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Pulver stands and steps away. Sander gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pulver is breathing heavily.
Sander tries for a takedown but Pulver circles away easily

and Pulver counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pulver.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pulver lands with a right to the head.
Pulver has a couple of punches blocked by Sander.
The is referee keeping an eye on Pulver - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Pulver has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sander regains guard immediately.
Sander avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pulver is looking to work some ground and pound but Sander has wrist control.

Pulver is working Sander over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pulver postures up in Sander's guard and throws a big left but Sander blocks it.
Pulver has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Pulver drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sander looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sander looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sander!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sander stands up and beckons Pulver to his feet.

Pulver closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Sander is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Pulver tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sander manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jens Pulver dominated that round.
That's time! Pulver's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Pulver shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pulver showed some decent athleticism there.
Pulver trying to advance position but Sander counters by regaining guard.
Sander is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sander is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sander is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pulver looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Sander wants to control from the top but Pulver keeps moving.
Pulver has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sander has passed into side control.
Pulver is looking to regain half guard here but Sander keeps moving and retains side control.

Sander stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Sander tries to close the distance and clinch but Pulver swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sander shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pulver counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sander's guard now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pulver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sander is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pulver loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Pulver gets to his feet - Sander follows without any prompting.

Pulver clinches.
Pulver is looking to break free of the clinch but Sander has double underhooks.

Pulver is fighting to break Sander's control of his arms but Sander is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Pulver cracks Sander with a solid left hand.
Pulver is looking to work some ground and pound but Sander has wrist control.
Pulver throws a strike but Sander rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Pulver looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sander puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sander not doing much here.
Sander wants to take a breather but Pulver is having none of it.

and Sander decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pulver's guard.
Pulver wants to stand but Sander is controlling the position.

Sander is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sander manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pulver manages to get himself to full guard.

Pulver bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sander's guard.

Sander wants to control the pace but Pulver is squirming around nicely.

Sander looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Sander is landing with some decent strikes but Pulver is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sander lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Pulver tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Roger Sander has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pulver is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Pulver is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Roger Sander comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pulver has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
