PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Glenn Morano (ranked 5305 p4p, 23776 weight class) and Vvv Vvv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Glenn Morano has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Glenn Morano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 28 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vvv Vvv!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vvv is trying to counter with his kicks.
Morano wants to clinch up but Vvv keeps it at a distance.
Morano fails with a takedown attempt.
Vvv takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Morano shoots in but Vvv avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vvv avoids a punch combination nicely.
Morano dives in and grabs Vvv's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vvv pushes down on Morano's head and hops out.
Vvv follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Glenn Morano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morano looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morano misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Morano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vvv controlling from the top position.
Morano is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morano seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Morano manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vvv manages to get himself to full guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Morano has gone for a leg lock! Vvv slips out almost immediately though and dives into Morano's guard.

Morano is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vvv is controlling him.
Vvv not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Morano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Vvv controls from within his opponent's guard.
Morano is looking to stand back up but Vvv counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Morano.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Morano looks like he's trying to stand up.
Morano trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Morano is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Vvv jumps into side control!

Morano is not content to let Vvv control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vvv is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vvv Vvv will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Morano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vvv circles away.
Morano lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vvv circles away quickly and effectively.
Morano misses with a wild combination.
Morano misses with a double jab.
Morano looks for a takedown but Vvv sprawls well.
Vvv flicks out a counter leg kick but Morano steps away.

Vvv closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vvv lands in his opponent's guard.
Morano wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Vvv manages to pass to side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Glenn Morano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Morano tries for a takedown but Vvv sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Morano goes for a double leg but Vvv avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vvv continues to drive forward.
Vvv is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Morano gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Vvv looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Morano pulls guard effortlessly.

Morano scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Morano looks to land a combination but Vvv avoids it well.
Vvv doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Morano tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Vvv defends well and Morano ends up having to push Vvv into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Vvv is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Morano pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Vvv is trying to drag Morano to the mat but Morano just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Morano jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vvv walks away with a smile on his face. Morano gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Morano throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Vvv tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Morano is in Vvv's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Glenn Morano dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Morano rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vvv moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vvv follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Jab, jab by Morano - just one landing.
Morano goes for a double leg but Vvv avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vvv continues to drive forward.
Vvv has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Morano avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Vvv goes for a takedown attempt but Morano pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Morano lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vvv backs up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vvv closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morano did well to prevent Vvv getting side control.

Vvv wants to control but Morano is keeping him busy.
Vvv thows a huge punch but Morano dodges it nicely.
Morano wants to control but Vvv is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Morano is looking to get back to full guard here but Vvv has managed to pass to side control instead.
Morano takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Vvv stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Morano throws a right hand that Vvv ducks under and follows up with a left that Vvv also avoids with ease.
Vvv replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Morano blocks it well.
Morano swinging wildly here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morano is looking to clinch.
Vvv lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Morano throws a nice looking combination but Vvv bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Morano throws a hook but Vvv blocks it.
Vvv counters with a body kick.

Morano shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vvv napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Vvv is trying to control Morano's posture but Morano avoids it.

Morano goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vvv has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Morano but great work by Vvv.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vvv wants to control but Morano is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vvv controls the position.
Morano wants to control but Vvv postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Morano is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Vvv misses with the ground and pound.
Vvv throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Vvv trying to control the position but Morano is working away.
Vvv looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Morano is avoiding damage well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Morano is trying to improve his position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Glenn Morano.
I think Morano has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
