The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena feints a jab promting McKill to slip. Pena then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. McKill slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Claus McKill has been cut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pena checks a leg kick.
Pena throws the left hand but McKill avoids the punch easily.

Pena darts in and clinches McKill up against the cage.

Pena breaks the clinch.
McKill pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McKill looks to land a body kick but Pena moved away.
A head kick misses from McKill.
Pena avoids the head kick by McKill.
Pena misses with a left hand

and McKill holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pena breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McKill feints a jab promting Pena to slip. McKill then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pena slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pena fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McKill, pushing him back against the cage.

McKill manages to break the clinch.
McKill's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pena under the eye.
Jorge Pena seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McKill has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
McKill throws a sloppy head kick and Pena moves out of range easily.

Pena throws a series of punches but McKill avoids them all with ease.
McKill looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
McKill swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McKill avoids a kick to the body.
McKill tries to counter with a takedown but Pena is quick to defend against it.

and McKill counters with a lovely shot to the body.
McKill throws a head kick but Pena moves out of range.

Pena throws a left that rocks McKill and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Pena dives into side control, looking to finish! Can McKill regain composure!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Pena decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Oh McKill is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Pena darts in and clinches McKill up against the cage.
McKill seems to have got his legs back now.

Pena breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pena listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Pena closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pena escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pena looks to land a combination but McKill avoids it well.
Pena misses with a two punch combination.
Pena takes a body punch but keeps moving.
McKill fails to land with a series of punches.
Pena works the jab nicely.
Pena avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pena unleashes a big counter combination but McKill bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Pena moves into the clinch successfully.

Pena pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McKill lands a two punch combo.
Pena throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McKill.
Pena throws a right and a left that McKill avoids nicely.
Pena looks winded!
McKill misses with a wild combination.

McKill scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
McKill tests Pena's chin there with a solid looking shot.
McKill scores with a sloppy right hand. Pena should have avoided that one.

Pena throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pena lands a jab-cross combination.
McKill throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pena stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McKill lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pena takes the fight into the clinch.

McKill breaks the clinch.

McKill throws a head kick that misses.
As McKill backs off Pena throws a huge counter combo but McKill manages to avoid it all.

Pena misses with a two punch combination.
Pena blocks a head kick by McKill.
Pena tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
McKill throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McKill swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McKill misses with a two punch combination.

Pena moves into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pena moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Pena changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

McKill pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pena moves out of range of the body kick from McKill.
McKill lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Pena wants to counter the offense by McKill and move into the clinch position.
A looping hook to the body misses from McKill. Pena does a little dance to reset his feet.

Pena closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pena's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McKill throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McKill sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pena misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pena scores with a nice body kick.
Jorge Pena seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pena misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

McKill is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Pena moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
