Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Colson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Otto Scheckter!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Scheckter!
Colson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Colson moves in looking to clinch but Scheckter pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Colson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It seemed like Scheckter was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Some wild striking there from Scheckter.
Colson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scheckter.
Colson wants to clinch
and Scheckter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Colson moves into the clinch.
Colson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Scheckter smiles and moves away.

Colson closes the distance and clinches.

Scheckter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Colson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Scheckter throws a shot from downtown. Colson moves away and avoids it.
Colson tries to close the distance and clinch but Scheckter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Colson tries to clinch up but Scheckter circles away and keeps his distance.
Scheckter's coach down at JAG Battle Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Scheckter's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Colson closes the distance and pushes Scheckter back into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Colson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Colson has his foot on Scheckter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Scheckter works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Colson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Colson is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Scheckter frees his head nicely. Oh but Colson has switched to an armbar! Scheckter is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
