The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Smith stops Souza from getting back to his feet.
Smith throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Smith takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Souza for as long as he can get away with.
Smith is thwarting Souza's attempts to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souza wants to control the action here but instead Smith manages to pass to full mount!

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Souza looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out!
