Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Bentley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Ball!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ball closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ball slows down the pace here.

Bentley breaks the clinch.
Bentley stuffs the takedown attempt from Ball. Ball gets slowly back to his feet.

Bentley moves into the clinch.
Bentley is trying to push Ball away but Ball has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Bentley misses with a hook to the ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ball breaks from the clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bentley.

Ball gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Ball fails with the takedown.
Ball sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ball shoots in and drives through. Bentley sprawls well.
Bentley scores with a jab to the jaw.
Ball doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bentley counters with a three punch combo that has Ball backing up. Ball nods at Bentley to acknowledge the strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bentley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Bentley.
Ball moves out of range as Bentley throws a body kick.

Bentley throws a head kick that half lands.
Bentley thuds his shin into the meat of Ball's side.
Nice body kick there by Bentley.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Bentley.
Bentley throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ball throws a counter combo.
Bentley scores with a one two! Ball had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Nice straight punches there by Bentley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bentley.

Bentley lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ball is still on wobbly legs! Can Bentley finish him?

Ball fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Ball cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bentley stalks Ball and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ball's face. Ball staggers backwards, shaken.

Bentley rushes Ball and presses him up against the cage.
Ball tries to pull guard but Bentley won't allow it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bentley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A head kick misses from Ball.
It looked like Bentley was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Bentley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ball breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bentley has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Ball ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ball no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ball is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bentley wants to stand but Ball has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ball is looking to stand up but Bentley isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ball trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Ball working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bentley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bentley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ball shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bentley but Bentley pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ball jumps guard but Bentley stands there with Ball around his waist. Ball gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ball changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bentley tries to avoid it but Ball manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bentley to the ground. Bentley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bentley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bentley moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Ball takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bentley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
