The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Shewmaker. No joy for Arby on that attempt.
Shewmaker misses with a double jab.
Arby shoots in looking for a takedown. Shewmaker tries to sprawl out of it but Arby keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shewmaker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shewmaker has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Jungle Room in the buildup to the fight.
Arby avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Arby tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Steven Shewmaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Katelynn Arby.

Shewmaker swings for the body but Arby moves out of range.

Arby darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Shewmaker looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Arby has picked Shewmaker up and slammed him! Shewmaker can't keep hold of the triangle and Arby manages to pass to side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Arby has hold of Shewmaker's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Shewmaker tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Arby cranks the arm and Shewmaker screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Shewmaker, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Katelynn Arby decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
