Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between KJ Hoodwell (ranked 24216 p4p, 24911 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, KJ Hoodwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoodwell fails to land the takedown.
KJ Hoodwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hoodwell drives through with a takedown into Bitok's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bitok is adopting a defensive guard.
Hoodwell wants to pass the guard but Bitok is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hoodwell with a flurry of punches that miss.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hoodwell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitok not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hoodwell wants to get up but he can't break Bitok's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hoodwell postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bitok is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bitok preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hoodwell throwing strikes but missing.
Hoodwell stopping the sweep attempt from Bitok.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hoodwell postures up in Bitok's guard and throws a big left but Bitok blocks it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Bitok fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoodwell avoids it really well and circles away.
Hoodwell was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hoodwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoodwell avoids it really well and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hoodwell.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Hoodwell!
Bitok showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoodwell.

Hoodwell shoots in looking for a takedown but Bitok manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hoodwell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bitok thinks about the counter body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KJ Hoodwell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bitok.
Hoodwell jabs Bitok to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hoodwell has closed the distance and engaged Bitok in a clinch.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hoodwell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bitok tries for a takedown but Hoodwell circles away easily

Hoodwell seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hoodwell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bitok's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hoodwell looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bitok is trying to maintain the position but Hoodwell is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hoodwell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bitok can do to turn this around?

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Hoodwell looks for a takedown but Bitok sprawls well.
Bitok shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hoodwell as he avoids it easily.
Hoodwell throws a sloppy head kick and Bitok moves out of range easily.
Bitok replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Hoodwell blocks it well.

Hoodwell scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hoodwell thows a huge punch but Bitok dodges it nicely.
Bitok is trying to control but can't.

Hoodwell keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Hoodwell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hoodwell stands up and beckons Bitok to join him on the feet.
Bitok is breathing heavily.
Hoodwell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bitok as he avoids it easily.

Hoodwell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hoodwell lands a two punch combo.

Hoodwell drops Bitok with a nice combination! Hoodwell dives into Bitok's guard, looking to finish!

Bitok is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hoodwell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bitok is still in real trouble! Can Hoodwell finish him?
Bitok is trying to keep Hoodwell in close.
Bitok seems to have recovered his senses.
Hoodwell's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Hoodwell stands and steps away. Bitok gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hoodwell has Bitok up against the cage in a clinch.
Hoodwell with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Hoodwell is defending well against a takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

KJ Hoodwell dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Hoodwell lands a head kick that stumbles Bitok and the fighters go to the mat.
Hoodwell looking to sit in guard and control but Bitok gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hoodwell has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Bitok has passed into side control.
Hoodwell can't do much from the bottom here.
Hoodwell tries to escape but Bitok is in control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hoodwell tries to improve position but can't.

Hoodwell gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hoodwell trying to hold on to Bitok's head to control him but Bitok postures up.
Hoodwell makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hoodwell.

Hoodwell scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Bitok shoots in and drives through. Hoodwell sprawls well.
KJ Hoodwell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bitok stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bitok wants it to stay on the feet.
Hoodwell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bitok circles away quickly and effectively.
Bitok replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Hoodwell blocks it well.
Hoodwell dives in and grabs Bitok's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bitok pushes down on Hoodwell's head and hops out.
Bitok counters with a body kick.
Hoodwell lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Bitok tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hoodwell defends well and Bitok ends up having to push Hoodwell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Bitok takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hoodwell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hoodwell stays in close to Bitok's body and controls the position.
Bitok is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hoodwell controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hoodwell trying to control the position from guard on top but Bitok is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hoodwell works over Bitok with some ground and pound from guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hoodwell stands up from Bitok's guard - Hoodwell perhaps looking for a knockout.
Bitok defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hoodwell.
Bitok replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Hoodwell blocks it well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KJ Hoodwell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoodwell throws a head kick but Bitok moves out of range.
Despite the aggression on Bitok's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Hoodwell throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Bitok gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kulata Bitok has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

KJ Hoodwell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Hoodwell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
