PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kaiser Soze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Ferrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaiser Soze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Ferrera!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soze throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Alex Ferrera has been cut.
Soze uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ferrera.

Ferrera gets a takedown into half guard.
Ferrera wants to take a breather but Soze is having none of it.
Ferrera takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ferrera trying to control from half guard but Soze is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ferrera wants to work for an arm triangle but Soze is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Soze is trying to control but can't.
Ferrera performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Ferrera is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Soze defends it well.

Ferrera is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Soze is just riding it out for now. Ferrera eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ferrera thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ferrera is just content to waste time from the top position. Soze takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Ferrera slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ferrera wants to control from the top but Soze keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Soze fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ferrera pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Soze throws a chopping leg kick but Ferrera manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Soze rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ferrera moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ferrera thows a body shot but no joy.
Soze really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Soze throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Soze, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Ferrera cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ferrera throws a series of punches but Soze avoids them all with ease.
A head kick from Soze lands but Ferrera takes it in his stride.
Soze is breathing heavily.

Soze has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ferrera finds it's way round the side to connect with Soze's head.
Ferrera looks for a takedown but Soze sprawls well.
Soze throws an overhand right that lands on Ferrera's shoulder, as Ferrera tries to avoid the shot.

and Ferrera counters with a series of strikes. Soze will be more careful next time no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ferrera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soze swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Soze keeping moving, preventing Ferrera from controlling successfully.

Ferrera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Soze does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Soze looks to throw the jab but Ferrera is out of range.
Ferrera sizes up Soze with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ferrera moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Ferrera dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ferrera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Soze but Soze pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ferrera cracks Soze with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Ferrera lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Soze at a distance.

Ferrera closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Soze to the mat! Soze manages to get full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ferrera might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Soze kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alex Ferrera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ferrera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
