Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Khamzat Sonnen (ranked 1764 p4p, 2033 weight class) and Terry Silver (ranked 230 p4p, 265 weight class). Sonnen comes to the cage accompanied by Ð¢Ð˜ÐœÐ£Ð ÐœÐ£Ð¦Ð£Ð ÐÐ•Ð’ - Ð’ Ð¢Ð£ ÐÐžÐ§Ð¬ ÐšÐžÐ“Ð”Ð Ð ÐžÐ–Ð”ÐÐ›Ð˜Ð¡Ð. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khamzat Sonnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terry Silver!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sonnen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
No joy there for Silver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Silver connects with a body shot.
Silver lands with a nice body punch.
Sonnen dodges the punch combination from Silver.
Silver loads up on a big right hand but Sonnen slips the punch.
Silver cracks Sonnen with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Silver clinches.

Sonnen tightens his grip and picks Silver up, before dumping him to the ground. Silver manages to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sonnen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Silver has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Sonnen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Silver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sonnen is one step ahead there.

Silver wants to sweep but no luck.
Sonnen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silver is keeping the position for now.
Silver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silver looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We've been hearing good reports from Sonnen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Silver wants to control but Sonnen is keeping busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sonnen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Sonnen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Silver is trying is best to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sonnen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Sonnen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Silver is looking to control Sonnen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silver avoid being mounted?

Sonnen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silver sees it coming and defends easily.
Silver tries to roll over but Sonnen keeps him under control.
Sonnen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sonnen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Silver defending well though.
Silver really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sonnen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sonnen throwing shots but Silver is blocking nicely.
Sonnen wants to pass to mount but Silver is defending the position.
Silver is trying to stand.
Silver is trying to maintain the position but Sonnen is very close to passing his half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silver can do anything to dispel that myth.
Silver is trying to get back to full guard.
Sonnen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nice strikes from Sonnen there.
Silver wants to get back to his feet.
Silver holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Sonnen throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Silver to regain full guard.
Sonnen postures up in Silver's guard and throws a big left but Silver blocks it.
Silver managing to control the position.
Sonnen landing with the ground and pound.
Sonnen throwing strikes from guard but Silver blocks nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sonnen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Sonnen works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Khamzat Sonnen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sonnen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Silver manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sonnen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sonnen has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Khamzat Sonnen has been cut.

Silver closes the distance and pushes Sonnen back into the cage.
Silver scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Silver misses with some punches.
Silver throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Sonnen is rocked!
Silver swings wildly with an uppercut but Sonnen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Oh Sonnen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A right hook to the body lands for Silver.
Silver lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sonnen backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sonnen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Silver avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Silver has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Silver swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sonnen seems to have got his legs back now.
Sonnen tries to stall but Silver uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Silver.
Silver lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sonnen blocking some punches.
A right hand to the body from Silver.

A nice left hand lands by Silver.
Sonnen takes a shot to the head.
Silver throws a head punch that misses.
Sonnen has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silver after a bit of a struggle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silver misses with some punches.
Silver lands a shoulder strike.

Sonnen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
