PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Quessy (ranked 1317 p4p, 708 weight class) and Fedor Vovchanchyn (ranked 178 p4p, 100 weight class). Quessy kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is NTM - Ma Benz. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quessy steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Vovchanchyn. That one must have hurt.
A slow jab from Quessy misses its intended target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Vovchanchyn.

It looks like Thomas Quessy has been cut.
Vovchanchyn lands a slapping body shot.
Quessy misses with a body punch
and Vovchanchyn counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Quessy tries to clinch there but Vovchanchyn circles away.
Vovchanchyn jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Thomas Quessy's cut is getting worse.
Vovchanchyn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Quessy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vovchanchyn is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

We've been hearing good reports from Quessy's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Quessy is working to tighten his grip on Vovchanchyn's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Vovchanchyn has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Quessy is really squeezing tight and eventually Vovchanchyn passes out! Quessy breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
