The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schrute fails with an attempt to clinch.

Banyon lands a head kick. Schrute smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schrute tries to clinch up.

Banyon rushes Schrute and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Banyon keeps control of Schrute as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Banyon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schrute throws the left hand but Banyon avoids the punch easily.
Schrute has a takedown stuffed.
Schrute throws a half hearted mid kick.
Schrute looks gassed!

Banyon shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Banyon wants to stand but Schrute has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Schrute is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Banyon pulls his head out easily.

Banyon wants to stand up but Schrute manages to regain full guard.
Banyon is looking to stand up but Schrute won't let him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Schrute winds up and cracks Banyon with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Banyon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schrute on the ground.

Schrute in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Banyon tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Schrute!
