PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Cunha (ranked 4322 p4p, 5320 weight class) and Heuman Raikuen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anderson Cunha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Heuman Raikuen!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raikuen is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Raikuen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Cunha is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Raikuen's half guard.
Raikuen wants to get back to his feet.
Cunha content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Raikuen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cunha seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Raikuen for as long as he can get away with.
Raikuen is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cunha throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Raikuen's waist but Raikuen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cunha off to one side.
Raikuen is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Raikuen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cunha to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Raikuen is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cunha dives into side control.
Cunha is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Raikuen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Cunha continues to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cunha has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Raikuen tries to escape but Cunha is in control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
More hug and hope from Cunha.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Raikuen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Raikuen just misses with a punch to the body.
Cunha tries to counter with a takedown but Raikuen is quick to defend against it.

and Raikuen makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Anderson Cunha will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Raikuen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Raikuen wants to get back to his feet but Cunha is dominant here and he's now got Raikuen's back!

Raikuen is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Cunha.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Raikuen is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Anderson Cunha showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cunha, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
