Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Javier Martinez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 47 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jax Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
It looks like Javier Martinez has been cut.
Thomas misses with a looping right.

Thomas on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Martinez slips under a jab.
Thomas pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Thomas tries to move into range but Martinez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Thomas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jax Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thomas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Martinez counters with a nice uppercut.
Thomas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Martinez.
Nice shot lands for Martinez.
Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martinez circles away quickly and effectively.
Martinez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thomas throws a right hand that misses
and Martinez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Thomas is rocked!
Martinez closes the distance and catches Thomas with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Thomas is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Thomas is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Thomas is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Martinez takes it!

Javier Martinez is the new heavyweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Javier Martinez started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
