PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Everett Flynn (ranked 5592 p4p, 4648 weight class) and Jason Hay (ranked 255 p4p, 230 weight class). Jason Hay told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Everett Flynn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Hay!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body kick from Flynn.
Flynn shoots in but Hay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hay should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Flynn tries to clinch but Hay moves away
and Hay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Flynn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Flynn lands a hook to the side of the head.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Flynn swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Hay lands with a left to the head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hay.

Flynn manages to pull guard.
Hay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flynn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Flynn gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hay not doing much here.
Flynn tries to get to full guard but Hay has control of the leg.

Hay decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Jason Hay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hay connects with a jab.
Hay moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Flynn fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hay.
Flynn doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hay counters with a nice uppercut.

Flynn is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flynn tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hay counters with a crisp right that sends Flynn to the canvas! Hay follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
