Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Achilles Heel (ranked 4293 p4p, 24911 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Kiang counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Heel wants to get back to his feet but Kiang passes into half guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Kiang has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Heel finds it's way round the side to connect with Kiang's head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kiang takes a little break here. Heel wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Heel throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Heel comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

so Kiang counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kiang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Heel wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kiang manages to pass to side control.

Yawa Kiang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Heel is not content to let Kiang control the position.
Heel is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kiang has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Yawa Kiang is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kiang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Heel is looking to reverse the position.
