Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Giovanni De Rossi (ranked 1026 p4p, 1878 weight class) and Matto Hyrra (ranked 162 p4p, 269 weight class). De Rossi comes to the cage accompanied by Paky - Blauer. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Giovanni De Rossi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matto Hyrra!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hyrra tries to keep at a distance but De Rossi has taken the fight into the clinch.

De Rossi pulls guard successfully.
De Rossi is adopting a defensive guard.
De Rossi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De Rossi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
De Rossi looking to control.
De Rossi is really struggling to control Hyrra but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hyrra tries to free his leg and advance position but De Rossi is retaining full guard.
Hyrra looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hyrra really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Rossi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

De Rossi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hyrra is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Rossi has momentary wrist control but Hyrra slips an elbow through the middle.
Hyrra stands up over De Rossi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hyrra missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
De Rossi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

De Rossi is looking for a triangle but Hyrra pushes his legs off easily.
Hyrra lands a couple of digs.
Hyrra working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

It looks like Giovanni De Rossi has been cut.
Hyrra cracks De Rossi with a solid left hand.
Hyrra showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hyrra throwing strikes but missing.
Hyrra postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hyrra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hyrra is looking to work some ground and pound but De Rossi has wrist control.
Hyrra looking to sit in guard and control but De Rossi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

De Rossi advances to half guard.
Hyrra is staying active underneath De Rossi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hyrra trying to control but De Rossi postures up.
Hyrra wants to get back to full guard but De Rossi has mounted him!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
De Rossi trying to control but Hyrra is having none of it.
De Rossi moves to take his opponent's back.

De Rossi is cranking Hyrra's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Hyrra! He's tightened the choke and Hyrra is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Giovanni De Rossi!

Post fight, an emotional Giovanni De Rossi said 'LET'S GO! I told you that I will keep that belt with me, I want to thank my coaches and my sparring partners at Italian Job, we've been putting a lot of work lately and hopefully you've seen the effects tonight'.
Matto Hyrra spoke after the fight, saying 'Ill be back'.
