PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between CJ Fredrich (ranked 4210 p4p, 4314 weight class) and Mikaev Mologonov (ranked 481 p4p, 489 weight class). Mologonov has chosen Soviet Hymne as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, CJ Fredrich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mikaev Mologonov!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mologonov fails with a takedown attempt.
Fredrich throwing a counter right hand but Mologonov manages to avoid it.
Mologonov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fredrich pinned against the cage. Fredrich gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fredrich half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Fredrich gets caught napping as Mologonov dives in and scores a takedown. Fredrich manages to retain guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fredrich wants to sweep but no luck.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fredrich has his foot on Mologonov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mologonov works his way back into a safe position though.

Fredrich tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mologonov paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mologonov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fredrich does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mologonov has Fredrich pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fredrich manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Mologonov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mologonov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fredrich tries to roll over but Mologonov keeps him under control.

Mologonov wants to control from the top but Fredrich keeps moving.
Mologonov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Fredrich is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mologonov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Fredrich goes for a double leg but Mologonov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mologonov continues to drive forward.
