PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexandru Mircea (ranked 690 p4p, 1667 weight class) and Aron Egomi (ranked 95 p4p, 216 weight class). Egomi has chosen Hand of doom by Manowar as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mircea tries to land a leg kick but Egomi saw it coming and moves away.
Mircea throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Egomi's head.
Alexandru Mircea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mircea takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Egomi scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Egomi shoots in looking for a takedown but Mircea manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Egomi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Egomi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mircea paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mircea moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

A looping hook to the body misses from Egomi. Mircea does a little dance to reset his feet.

Egomi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Egomi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Mircea.

and Mircea cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Mircea scores with a sloppy right hand. Egomi should have avoided that one.

Egomi misses with a takedown attempt - Mircea sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Egomi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mircea manages to avoid it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Egomi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Mircea doesn't defend quickly enough and Egomi has managed to lock this one up! Can Mircea escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Egomi on a fantastic submission victory.
