Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Miller (ranked 3438 p4p, 3342 weight class) and Bjorn Helvig (ranked 456 p4p, 442 weight class). Bjorn Helvig acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bjorn Helvig!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller clinches up against the cage.

Miller gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Helvig regains guard.

Miller is in close to Helvig's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Helvig can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Miller controls the pace.

Miller definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Helvig is trying to control Miller's posture but Miller avoids it.
Miller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee asks Miller politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Miller prefers to stall for the moment though.

Helvig tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Miller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Helvig has escaped the position, nice work there.
Helvig prevents Miller from moving into mount.

Helvig is working to avoid the ground and pound but Miller connects with a decent elbow.
Miller slows the pace down.
Helvig tries to improve position but can't.

Miller lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Helvig down.
Miller happy to just control the position for now.
Miller seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Helvig for as long as he can get away with.

Helvig wants to control but Miller is having none of it.

Miller pulls guard effortlessly.

Miller pulls Helvig in close to his closed guard and prevents Helvig from doing any damage or advancing position.

Helvig got a little sloppy there for a moment and Miller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Helvig has managed to get both his arms back between Miller's legs - danger averted.

Miller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Miller is pressing down on Helvig's thigh, looking to free his foot. Helvig is holding on for now.
Miller is taking a breather. Helvig says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Miller looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Miller's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Helvig takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
You can see the frustration on Helvig's face as Miller controls the position.
Helvig is looking to regain half guard here but Miller keeps moving and retains side control.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Helvig might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Miller haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Helvig gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Miller to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miller's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Miller sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Helvig's guard.

Helvig tries to roll over but Miller keeps him under control.

Helvig is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Miller pulls his head out easily.
Still in half guard, Miller seems content to control.

Miller is taking a breather. Helvig says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Miller has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Miller working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Miller has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Helvig is trying to escape the mount.
Miller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Miller breaks from Helvig's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Helvig is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Bjorn Helvig has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
This is a sustained period of stalling by Miller.

Well Miller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
