Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shane O Malley (ranked 901 p4p, 648 weight class) and Lorenzo Benedetti (ranked 82 p4p, 58 weight class). O Malley comes to the cage accompanied by Someone Like Me - by: Jon Connor. Benedetti has chosen Gloom, Doom, Heartache & Whiskey - Viking Skull as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Lorenzo Benedetti has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Malley looks to throw the jab but Benedetti is out of range.
Benedetti looks like he wants to counter punch here.

O Malley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Benedetti but Benedetti pushes him off and we're back to square one.
O Malley chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Benedetti can pounce on him.
Benedetti has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

O Malley is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Benedetti can't fight it off and eventually O Malley manages to take the fight to the floor. Benedetti looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Benedetti has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but O Malley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

O Malley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Benedetti takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from O Malley lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Benedetti has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Benedetti and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shane O Malley will probably get the nod.

Benedetti's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

O Malley looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Benedetti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as O Malley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
