Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gatis Krutainis (ranked 3263 p4p, 5560 weight class) and Ron Austin (ranked 129 p4p, 166 weight class). Ron Austin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Gatis Krutainis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Austin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Krutainis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Austin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Krutainis's waist but Krutainis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Austin off to one side.
Krutainis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Austin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Krutainis avoids it really well and circles away.
Gatis Krutainis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ron Austin.
Krutainis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Austin swivels and escapes.

Krutainis shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Austin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Austin is not content to let Krutainis control the position.
Austin seems a little lost for a moment, as Krutainis dominates the positioning.
Krutainis is working Austin over with some ground and pound from side control.
Austin tries to improve position but can't.

Krutainis is trying to get an arm triangle but Austin is defending well.
Austin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Krutainis cracks Austin with a big right hand but Austin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Krutainis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Austin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Austin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Krutainis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Krutainis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krutainis is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Krutainis connects with a nice short shot to Austin's temple.

Austin actively working from the bottom here.

Krutainis wants to work for an arm triangle but Austin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Krutainis is working for a kimura but Austin is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Krutainis has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Austin! Can he survive? No! He's out! Krutainis gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
