PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Matias (ranked 3696 p4p, 3445 weight class) and Nakula Sadewa (ranked 209 p4p, 196 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eduardo Matias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nakula Sadewa!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matias uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sadewa.
Sadewa throws a jab when Matias was well out of range.
Matias half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Matias uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sadewa.
We've been told by Matias's head coaches at Cozad MMA Montreal that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Matias slips a straight right by Sadewa.

Sadewa's coach down at Champion Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sadewa's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Matias displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sadewa throws out the jab.

and Matias decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sadewa's guard.

Matias working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sadewa's head.
Matias stands up over Sadewa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sadewa striking off his back but it's not causing Matias any problems.
Sadewa throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Matias content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Matias working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sadewa's head.
Sadewa manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Matias manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sadewa wants to control from the top but Matias keeps moving.

Matias is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sadewa presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Sadewa is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Matias is keeping busy.
Sadewa gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Matias.
Sadewa lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Sadewa managing to block the knees to the body from Matias.
Sadewa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Sadewa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sadewa lands a big uppercut and Matias crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Matias looks OK. Sadewa waves Matias back to his feet!

It looks like Eduardo Matias has been cut.
Matias is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sadewa lands a body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Sadewa misses the target.
Sadewa throws a hook to the side of Matias's head but Matias sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
As Sadewa tries to get set, Matias tries to push him back and clinch up but Sadewa manages to avoid the attempt.

Sadewa drops Matias with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Matias looks back up at him and smiles so Sadewa waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Matias is rocked!
Sadewa finds Matias's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Matias flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Sadewa lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Matias will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nakula Sadewa!
Nakula Sadewa gave a mention to Champion Apparel in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
