Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sunshine Okafor (ranked 834 p4p, 1000 weight class) and Richmond Belvedere (ranked 122 p4p, 143 weight class). Okafor comes to the cage accompanied by Bliss. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sunshine Okafor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richmond Belvedere!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belvedere bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Okafor's head.
Okafor scores with a body shot.
Belvedere on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Belvedere lands with a hook. Okafor tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looks like Sunshine Okafor has been cut.
A big right from Belvedere misses.
Okafor ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Okafor, as that shot connected.
Okafor is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Belvedere has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Belvedere will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Belvedere takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Okafor has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Okafor throws a body punch but Belvedere moves out of range.

Belvedere lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Belvedere scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Okafor lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Okafor connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Belvedere.
Belvedere walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Belvedere misses with a double jab
and Okafor cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Belvedere gets a double leg takedown into Okafor's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Belvedere drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Okafor dives on top into guard.

Belvedere is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Okafor is aware though and is defending well.

Belvedere is looking for a triangle here but Okafor uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Belvedere manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Belvedere tries to roll over but Okafor keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Belvedere is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Okafor pulls his head out easily.

Okafor is working for a kimura but Belvedere is defending it quite comfortably.
Belvedere moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Belvedere is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Okafor defends well.

Okafor avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Okafor has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Okafor lying in Belvedere's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Belvedere decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Okafor taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
