Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julian Diaz (ranked 3779 p4p, 5009 weight class) and CC Chai (ranked 421 p4p, 487 weight class). CC Chai will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chai jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A decent looking cross lands there for Chai.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Chai has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Chai is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Diaz defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Chai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Julian Diaz.
