Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ulysses Corbin (ranked 4296 p4p, 5392 weight class) and Dennis Brousard (ranked 542 p4p, 598 weight class). Dennis Brousard is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ulysses Corbin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dennis Brousard!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Chris Dean and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Corbin. Brousard does a little dance to reset his feet.
Brousard wants to clinch.
Corbin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Corbin jabs Brousard right on the nose. Brousard blinks but takes it well.
Brousard takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Brousard scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Brousard not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brousard tries to stand and escape but Corbin is controlling the position.
Brousard is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Corbin is trying to reverse the position but instead Brousard has taken his back - oops!

Brousard has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Corbin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Brousard has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brousard is not going to allow Corbin to sit and survive in this position.
Brousard misses with an elbow to the head.

Brousard gets his hands free as Corbin looks to control.
Brousard tries to keep control of the position but Corbin is staying busy.
Corbin is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Corbin is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Brousard.
Brousard's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Brousard is not going to allow Corbin to sit and survive in this position.
Corbin rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Brousard is going to stand back up.
Corbin tries to roll over but Brousard keeps him under control.
Brousard tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Corbin.
Brousard is taking a breather. Corbin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Corbin is concentrating on defense, preventing Brousard from advancing position.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Brousard missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Corbin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Corbin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Corbin throws a body shot but no joy.

Corbin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brousard manages to get to full guard.
Brousard is controlling Corbin's posture.
Corbin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Brousard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Corbin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Corbin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Brousard's head.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Corbin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Corbin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Corbin distracts Brousard with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Brousard pushes Corbin off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck for Brousard with that takedown attempt.
Brousard drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Corbin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Brousards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Jab, jab by Corbin - just one landing.
Brousard has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Brousard there as he acknowledges the shot.
Brousard needs to keep his hands up - Corbin had a free shot at his head there.
Brousard fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Corbin connects with a jab.
Corbin works Brousard's body with a nice hook.
Brousard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Corbin as he avoids it easily.
Ulysses Corbin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Brousard.
Brousard looks winded!
Brousard shoots in for a double leg but Corbin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Corbin ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Corbin lands a left and a right that send Brousard crashing to the mat, dazed. Corbin thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Brousard is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brousard walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Brousard limp body while Corbin jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ulysses Corbin!
