Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Topf Deckel (ranked 4620 p4p, 3865 weight class) and Carlos Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Topf Deckel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Rocha!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deckel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rocha as he avoids it easily.

Rocha moves into the clinch.

Rocha pulls Deckel into guard.
Rocha wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Deckel is now in half guard.
Deckel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Deckel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rocha wants to get back to full guard.
Deckel stalling.
Rocha wants to improve his position but Deckel is controlling well.
Deckel trying to pass the guard but Rocha defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Well, if Deckel is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deckel tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Deckel fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rocha to the ground. Deckel is now in Rocha's guard.

Rocha lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Deckel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Deckel keeping moving, preventing Rocha from controlling successfully.

Deckel is pulling down on Rocha's head to control his posture.

Rocha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Topf Deckel will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Deckel shoots in for a takedown but Rocha shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rocha tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Deckel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Deckel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Rocha has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Deckel is working away from the top position though.
Deckel moves into full mount! Rocha won't be happy about that!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Deckel pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Deckel looking to control but Rocha is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Rocha is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Deckel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rocha can do to turn this around?
Rocha is just holding on here. Deckel manages to take his back.

Rocha can't escape the position.
Deckel trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Rocha doesn't escape.
Rocha is trying to break free.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Deckel is not going to allow Rocha to sit and survive in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Deckel keeps control of the position as Rocha tries to break free.
Rocha is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rocha trying to control the hands but Deckel won't let him.
Deckel is riding his opponent, not letting Rocha buck him off.

Rocha just trying to survive but Deckel is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Topf Deckel dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Rocha drives through and clinches with Deckel against the cage.
Rocha is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Deckel to keep the fight standing.

Deckel has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rocha regains guard immediately.
Deckel passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Deckel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rocha to his feet.
Deckel throws a leg kick but Rocha sees it coming and moves out of range.
Rocha tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Deckel with that takedown attempt.

Deckel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rocha looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Deckel is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rocha will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Deckel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rocha keeps working.
Rocha tries to improve position but can't.
Rocha is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Deckel is controlling the pace.
Rocha trying to hold on to Deckel's head to control him but Deckel postures up.
Carlos Rocha has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Deckel is taking a breather. Rocha says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Rocha is trying to control but can't.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Deckel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Deckel's corner is telling him to maintain position.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Deckel.

Rocha looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Deckel has picked Rocha up and slammed him! Rocha can't keep hold of the triangle and Deckel manages to pass to side control!
Deckel tries to stand but Rocha is controlling his head.
Rocha is looking to reverse the position.
Deckel controls the position from side control.

Rocha tries to improve position but can't.
A lull in the action here as Deckel stalls from top position.
Deckel advances to full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Deckel controlling the pace for now.

Rocha is trying to escape the mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Topf Deckel showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Deckel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
