Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joost Pertle (ranked 4368 p4p, 4325 weight class) and Paul Vandorne (ranked 523 p4p, 521 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Vandorne!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vandorne fails with a takedown attempt.
Pertle is looking to counter with a body kick.
Vandorne is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pertle sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Vandorne shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pertle sprawls well. Pertle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vandorne gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Vandorne jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pertle is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pertle and Vandorne has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Vandorne shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pertle defends it nicely.
Pertle misses with a low kick as Vandorne jumps back.
Vandorne is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Vandorne tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pertle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vandorne somewhat.
Pertle tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Vandorne manages to circle out of the way.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Pertle.

Pertle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vandorne tries to avoid it but Pertle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vandorne to the ground. Vandorne escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pertle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pertle rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vandorne moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Pertle clinches up with Vandorne and pushes him back against the cage.

Vandorne is trying to break the clinch but Pertle has him pressed against the cage.

Pertle manages to break the clinch.
Pertle misses the shot to the body.

Vandorne bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Pertle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vandorne on the ground.

Pertle takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Vandorne passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Pertle!
Pertle takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Pertle is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vandorne is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Vandorne lands with some strikes.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Vandorne cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

You get the feeling that Pertle really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Paul Vandorne showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Pertle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
