Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gervais Lavigne (ranked 1308 p4p, 1255 weight class) and Bobby Mercer (ranked 143 p4p, 138 weight class). Mercer has chosen Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Bobby Mercer enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gervais Lavigne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavigne takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mercer connects with a right hand. Lavigne shakes it off.
Mercer throws a right hand that misses
and Lavigne counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mercer lands a nice hook to Lavigne's body. Lavigne takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lavigne uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mercer.
Mercer throws a body shot but no joy.
Mercer throws a push kick but Lavigne slaps the foot to one side.
Lavigne avoids the head kick by Mercer.
Lavigne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mercer tries to avoid it but Lavigne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mercer to the ground. Mercer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mercer tries a head kick but it misses.
Lavigne on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Mercer throws a sloppy head kick and Lavigne moves out of range easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mercer thuds a left hand into Lavigne's body.
Mercer misses the shot to the body.
Mercer throws a poor cross that misses
and Lavigne counters with a left and a right that stings Mercer.
Lavigne moves out of range as Mercer strikes.
Mercer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mercer wants it to stay on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lavigne drives through and clinches with Mercer against the cage.
Mercer fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Lavigne goes for a takedown attempt but Mercer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gervais Lavigne. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mercer digs a good body shot into Lavigne's ribs.
Mercer misses with a double jab.
Lavigne tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Mercer manages to circle out of the way.
Mercer scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lavigne looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lavigne.
Mercer swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Mercer misses with a hook. Lavigne ducked under it nicely.
Mercer looks to throw the jab but Lavigne is out of range.
Lavigne closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lavigne jumps into guard, dragging Mercer to the mat.
Mercer stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lavigne keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mercer connects with a nice looking jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lavigne is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mercer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mercer clinches with his opponent.
Lavigne tries to pull guard but Mercer forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Lavigne tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mercer smiles and moves away.
Lavigne closes the distance and clinches up with Mercer, looking for a takedown. Lavigne pushes Mercer against the cage but Mercer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mercer closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Lavigne! Mercer dives in looking to finish! Lavigne is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bobby Mercer!
