The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kobayashi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kobayashi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kobayashi prevents Souza from getting the reversal.

Kobayashi looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Kobayashi fails to advance to Souza's back.
Souza wants to hold on but Kobayashi pushes him away.

Kobayashi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Souza manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Souza tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Souza clinches up with Kobayashi and pushes him back against the cage.
Souza drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kobayashi gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Souza misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kobayashi.

Souza tries to land knees in the clinch but Kobayashi avoids the damage to the body.
Kobayashi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Souza tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Souza tries to pull guard but Kobayashi won't allow it.
Noburo Kobayashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacare Souza.
Kobayashi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Kobayashi is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Souza can't fight it off and eventually Kobayashi manages to take the fight to the floor. Souza looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kobayashi wants to pass the guard but Souza is keeping the position.

Kobayashi is really struggling to control Souza but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Souza wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Souza is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
