The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbosa scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Ryan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ryan throws a hook to the side of Barbosa's head but Barbosa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It looked like Barbosa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ryan connects with a looping right hand.
Ryan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barbosa manages to avoid it.

Barbosa takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Barbosa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ryan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ryan, as that shot connected.
Ryan drops his hands momentarily and Barbosa takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

We've been told by Barbosa's head coaches at Canadian Combat Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Eddie Ryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan clobbers Barbosa with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Barbosa avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ryan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barbosa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ryan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ryan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barbosa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ryan defends it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ryan shoots for a double leg takedown but Barbosa sprawls well. He's pushed Ryan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

During a confident post fight interview, Eddie Ryan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Daniel Barbosa spoke after the fight, saying 'Congrats to White Jr, I fought hard to be champion and will keep fighting hard to get back and get my title. Back to the gym, I’d like to fight again soon... '.
