PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 24040 p4p, 24452 weight class) and Wala Sapi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wala Sapi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wala Sapi!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Sapi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Libat as he jumps to the side.
Libat fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sapi thinks about the counter body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Libat shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sapi's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Libat is stalling in the full guard.

Libat is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Libat trying to control but Sapi is working from the bottom.
Libat is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Libat defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sapi.
Libat swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Libat tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sapi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Libat somewhat.
Sapi is trying to counter with his kicks.

Libat feints and as Sapi raises his hands in defense, Libat changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Libat is fighting to break Sapi's control of his arms but Sapi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Libat controls from within his opponent's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sapi pulls Libat in close to his closed guard and prevents Libat from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat dominated that round.
That's time! Libat's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Libat keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Sapi just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromLibat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sapi enables Libat to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sapi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Libat accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Libat is fighting to break Sapi's control of his arms but Sapi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Sapi wants to hit a sweep here but Libat passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sapi there!
Libat is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Libat's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Sapi tries to hold on but Libat postures up.

Sapi manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Sapi controlling the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Libat looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Libat throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sapi's waist but Sapi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Libat off to one side.
Sapi replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Libat blocks it well.

Libat gets the takedown into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Sapi fails with the takedown.
Libat is looking to counter with a body kick.
Sapi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Libat circles away.
Libat throws a big counter combination but Sapi scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Libat stuffs the takedown attempt from Sapi. Sapi gets slowly back to his feet.
Libat appears to be looking for a big counter.
Higanti Libat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wala Sapi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sapi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Libat tries to avoid it but Sapi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Libat to the ground. Libat escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Libat has his takedown stuffed
and Sapi counters with a one-two to the body.

Libat shoots in and bounces Sapi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Sapi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Libat looking to pass the guard.
Sapi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Libat is one step ahead there.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Libat is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sapi misses with a takedown attempt
and Libat counters with a nice kick to the body.
Libat misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wala Sapi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Higanti Libat is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Higanti Libat showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Libat, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
