Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Brooks (ranked 2495 p4p, 1143 weight class) and Glen Hoddle (ranked 316 p4p, 154 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eric Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Glen Hoddle!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks staying out of range there.
Hoddle lands with an uppercut that bounces Brooks off the cage and back into range.
A nice leg kick from Hoddle, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hoddle lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Brooks shoots in and gets a takedown into Hoddle's guard.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Hoddle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brooks is stalling in the full guard.
Brooks throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hoddle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brooks wants to control from the top but Hoddle keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hoddle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brooks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Brooks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brooks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Brooks seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hoddle for as long as he can get away with.

Hoddle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brooks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hoddle is working an open guard so Brooks takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hoddle throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Brooks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hoddle misses with a hook. Brooks ducked under it nicely.
Brooks connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Glen Hoddle has been cut.
Brooks lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Brooks.
Brooks fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hoddle misses with a straight right.
Jab, jab by Brooks - just one landing.
Hoddle swats away the attempt to clinch by Brooks.
Brooks listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Brooks slips under a jab.
Brooks connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hoddle's hands.
Hoddle connects with a leg kick.

Brooks looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hoddle!
Brooks looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hoddle is avoiding damage well.
Brooks definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hoddle manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hoddle slips a nice elbow through Brooks's hands, connecting with Brooks's forehead.

Hoddle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brooks's head.

Hoddle perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Brooks tries to get to full guard but Hoddle has control of the leg.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoddle postures up in Brooks's guard and throws a big left but Brooks blocks it.

That was a close round but I would say that Eric Brooks will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Brooks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hoddle counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Hoddle gets caught napping as Brooks dives in and scores a takedown. Hoddle manages to retain guard.

Hoddle looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Hoddle has his foot on Brooks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brooks works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brooks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hoddle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Brooks trying to control but Hoddle is working from the bottom.

Hoddle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brooks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brooks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Brooks is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Brooks advances position into side control!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hoddle can't do much from the bottom here.

Brooks decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hoddle to his feet.
Hoddle scores with a body shot.

Brooks forces Hoddle back against the cage and clinches.

Brooks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hoddle jabs Brooks right on the nose. Brooks blinks but takes it well.
Hoddle thows a left - swing and a miss!
Brooks takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Brooks doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hoddle counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Brooks throws a low kick, looking for Hoddle's leg but Hoddle calmly moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoddle pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Brooks has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Brooks there as he acknowledges the shot.
Brooks uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hoddle.
Nice uppercut lands for Brooks. That snapped Hoddle's head back.
Brooks doesn't manage to clinch there - Hoddle circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Brooks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brooks wants to clinch.
Glen Hoddle seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Brooks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hoddle swings widly with a right hand
and Brooks cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A low kick from Hoddle is predictable there
and Brooks counters with a one-two to the body.

A telegraphed right hand from Hoddle misses the target.
Hoddle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As Hoddle tries to get set, Brooks tries to push him back and clinch up but Hoddle manages to avoid the attempt.
Hoddle wants to land a leg kick but Brooks is out of range.
A big left from Hoddle misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brooks fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoddle avoids it really well and circles away.
Hoddle with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hoddle lands a slapping body shot.
Hoddle connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hoddle scores with the left hand. Brooks knows he should have avoided that one.
Hoddle looks to land a left hand but Brooks moved out of range nicely.
Hoddle stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hoddle scores with a crisp jab that stopped Brooks in his tracks.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Glen Hoddle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hoddle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Brooks blocks a jab.
Hoddle attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Hoddle lands with an overhand left.
No joy there for Brooks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hoddle appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Brooks dives in and grabs Hoddle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hoddle pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.
Hoddle cracks a nice hook into Brooks's ribs.
Brooks slips a jab from Hoddle.
Hoddle takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Hoddle circles away from the clinch attempt.

Brooks swings for the body but Hoddle moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hoddle. Brooks does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hoddle stuffs the takedown attempt from Brooks. Brooks gets slowly back to his feet.
Brooks tries to clinch there but Hoddle circles away.

Hoddle just misses with a punch to the body.
Brooks tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hoddle manages to circle out of the way.
Hoddle throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hoddle darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Brooks ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hoddle looks to throw the jab but Brooks is out of range.
Hoddle missing with a left hand there. Brooks was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Brooks moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hoddle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brooks moves away.

Brooks shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hoddle is trying to defend but Brooks finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hoddle wants to control but Brooks is keeping busy.
Brooks frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hoddle gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brooks tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hoddle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hoddle flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Brooks trying to mount his opponent but Hoddle defends it.
Hoddle trying to hold on to Brooks's head to control him but Brooks postures up.
Brooks tries to pass to full mount but Hoddle defends it.

Brooks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hoddle keeps working.
Hoddle is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hoddle is not content to let Brooks control the position.
Brooks laying and praying for a moment but Hoddle takes advantage and regains half guard.
Brooks is keen to just control but Hoddle is a slippery customer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brooks is taking a breather. Hoddle says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Brooks content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hoddle is concentrating on defense, preventing Brooks from advancing position.
Eric Brooks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brooks tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hoddle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hoddle tries to get to full guard but Brooks has control of the leg.
Hoddle wants to get back to full guard but Brooks has passed into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eric Brooks.
I think Brooks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
