Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Agent Smith (ranked 436 p4p, 983 weight class) and Spider Monkey (ranked 56 p4p, 132 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Spider Monkey!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey throws a leg kick
and Smith counters with a nice leg kick.
Monkey slips a straight right by Smith.
Monkey jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smith with a jab.
Monkey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Monkey tries to score with a low kick but Smith moves his leg out of the way.
Monkey throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Smith counters with a three punch combo that has Monkey backing up. Monkey nods at Smith to acknowledge the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Monkey looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.

Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Monkey sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Monkey tries to work over Smith's front leg with a kick but Smith checks it.

and Monkey counters with a straight right hand.
Smith fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Monkey is out of range.

and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Smith has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Monkey.
Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monkey.

Smith walks forward, straight into a front kick from Monkey.

Monkey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Monkey closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Agent Smith will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Monkey throws a wild body kick that Smith sees coming a mile off.
Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Monkey was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.
Monkey swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Monkey drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Smith throws a leg kick but Monkey sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Monkey was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith moves out of range as Monkey strikes.
Smith moves out of range of the strikes.
Smith is looking to slow Monkey down with leg kicks.
Monkey feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Smith throws a big shot that misses.
Smith tries to work over Monkey's front leg with a kick but Monkey checks it.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Monkey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Monkey's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Monkey manages to avoid it.

Smith slips under a jab.
An inside leg kick from Monkey misses.
Smith lands a head kick that stumbles Monkey and the fighters go to the mat.
Monkey is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Monkey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Monkey's legs - danger averted.

Smith stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Monkey has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Smith manages to get his head free but now Monkey has transitioned to an armbar! Smith grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Monkey! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

During a confident post fight interview, Spider Monkey thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
