PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doadi Rafi Meldir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh McCuistion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meldir's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Khala Ya Khala. McCuistion has chosen Sunken Hips in Space as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doadi Rafi Meldir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh McCuistion!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meldir darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
McCuistion wants to control but Meldir is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McCuistion wants to get back to full guard.
McCuistion keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Meldir seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Meldir not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
McCuistion manages to get to full guard.
Meldir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McCuistion swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Meldir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Meldir showed some decent athleticism there.
McCuistion moves into full guard.
McCuistion looking to hit a scissor sweep but Meldir is one step ahead there.
McCuistion is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Meldir slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Meldir throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McCuistion had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Meldir is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McCuistion Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Meldir's back instead.
Meldir tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

McCuistion is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Meldir has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Meldir!

Meldir gets to his feet - McCuistion follows without any prompting.

Meldir clinches up with McCuistion and pushes him back against the cage.

McCuistion tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Meldir just stands there and leans against the cage.

Meldir tightens his grip and picks McCuistion up, before dumping him to the ground. McCuistion manages to land in guard.

McCuistion is looking for a triangle here but Meldir uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
McCuistion looks gassed!

McCuistion is not content to let Meldir control the position.

Meldir decides to stand back up. Meldir steps back and let's McCuistion get back to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by McCuistion.

McCuistion has an Americana. Meldir didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! McCuistion is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if McCuistion hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
