Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Andersson (ranked 4139 p4p, 4106 weight class) and Newman Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Newman Newton!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Andersson gets caught flat footed, as Newton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Newton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Newton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Andersson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Andersson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Newton defends well.

Newton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Andersson is proving hard to escape from.

Newton is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Andersson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Andersson has escaped and now he's on top!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Newton can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Newton is on top in guard.

Newton advances to half guard.
Newton is taking a breather. Andersson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
It looks like Newton might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Newton postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Andersson to stand up.
Andersson is breathing heavily.
Newton scores with a kick to the midsection.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Newton is looking for a triangle but Andersson pushes his legs off easily.
Newton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Newton stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Newton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Andersson avoids the head kick by Newton.
Newton digs a good body shot into Andersson's ribs.

Newton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Andersson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's time! Andersson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Newton connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Andersson tumbling to the canvas! Newton pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Andersson was done - good stoppage!
