Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Greg Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ethan Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hunt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pearson misses with a wild body shot.
Hunt connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pearson momentarily.
Hunt tries for a takedown but Pearson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Pearson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pearson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hunt throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Pearson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hunt wants to stand but Pearson is controlling the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pearson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pearson prevents Hunt from getting back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunt can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pearson distracts Hunt with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Pearson lands a couple of digs.
Pearson cracks Hunt with a solid left hand.
Pearson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pearson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Pearson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA New York inform us that Hunt has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Hunt will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Pearson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunt is pushing Pearson's head away, looking to escape. Pearson manages to hold on to the position though.
Pearson lands a nice forearm strike.

Pearson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hunt's shoulder. That is not cool.
Pearson gets to mount! Hunt was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Hunt bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pearson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pearson is looking for a triangle but Hunt pushes his legs off easily.
Pearson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pearson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hunt stands up over Pearson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pearson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hunt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pearson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunt is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hunt is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pearson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hunt manages to get himself to full guard.

Pearson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hunt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pearson scores with a couple of nice shots.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Pearson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Hunt scores with a jab. Pearson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Hunt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hunt is working Pearson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hunt is looking to work some ground and pound but Pearson has wrist control.

Greg Pearson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pearson has his foot on Hunt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hunt works his way back into a safe position though.
Hunt loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pearson has momentary wrist control but Hunt slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pearson has his feet on Hunt's thighs here. He's pushed Hunt off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Hunt screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
