The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diodorus lands with an overhand left.
Cartwright moves forwards but Diodorus connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Cartwright motions for Diodorus to come forward. Cartwright throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and Diodorus counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cartwright fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Diodorus is out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diodorus sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Cartwright is looking for a kimura but Diodorus is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cartwright to get the leverage.

Diodorus's coaches at The Rubber Guard Emporium have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Diodorus wants to improve his position but Cartwright is controlling well.

Diodorus is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
