Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brutus Barrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCarthy has chosen The Slam as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Brutus Barrington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barrington thows a body shot but no joy.
Barrington throws a series of punches but McCarthy avoids them all with ease.

McCarthy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McCarthy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McCarthy won't let Barrington get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCarthy looking to control but Barrington is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Barrington defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from McCarthy.
McCarthy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
You get the feeling that Barrington really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Barrington slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

McCarthy stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
McCarthy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barrington but Barrington pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Barrington has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCarthy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Barrington doesn't succeed with the takedown

and McCarthy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barrington's guard.
McCarthy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ryan McCarthy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McCarthy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barrington but Barrington pushes him off and we're back to square one.

McCarthy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
