The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Levy shoots in but Phoenix avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Phoenix gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Phoenix prevents the takedown attempt.

Levy jumps guard and drags Phoenix to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Phoenix slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Phoenix trying to control the position from guard on top but Levy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phoenix is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Levy controls Phoenix momentarily but Phoenix frees himself.
Levy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Phoenix is one step ahead there.
Phoenix pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Levy is keeping the position for now.
Phoenix trying to control but Levy is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Phoenix stuffs the takedown.
Gerald Phoenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gad Levy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Phoenix counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Phoenix connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Levy's hands.
Phoenix tried to score with a low kick but Levy checks it.
Levy has a takedown stuffed.
Levy uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Phoenix.
Gerald Phoenix is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Phoenix connects with a body shot.
Phoenix stuffs the takedown.
Levy looks winded!
Levy shoots in but Phoenix avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Phoenix clinches up with Levy and pushes him back against the cage.
Levy missing with knees to the body.

Phoenix tries to work over Levy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Levy can't get the takedown.
Phoenix tries to land a knee to the head but Levy blocks with his arms.
Phoenix is pressed up against the cage. Levy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Phoenix down to the mat. Phoenix avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That kick from Phoenix tenderised Levy's leg. Levy is trying to keep his angry face on.
Levy doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Phoenix leaves Levy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Phoenix throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Levy's head.

Levy is rocked!
Phoenix connects with a looping right hand.
Levy is still on wobbly legs! Can Phoenix finish him?
Phoenix is stalking Levy. Levy circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Phoenix, and it's lights out! Levy really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
