PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryce Hammond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Billy Do has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Billy Do seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Do moves into range and clinches up with Hammond.
Do lands a knee to the body.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hammond.
Do unloads a knee to the mid-section. Hammond lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Hammond wants to break free but Do has control.
Hammond fails to pull guard.
Hammond looks gassed!
Do lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Hammond blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hammond changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Do fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Do closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hammond to the mat! Hammond manages to get full guard.
Do pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hammond is keeping the position for now.
Do sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hammond's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hammond pushes Do off looking to stand but Do dives back in and keeps control.

Hammond really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Do. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Do has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Do is keen to just control but Hammond is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Do stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hammond to get to his feet.
Hammond changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Do tries to avoid it but Hammond manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Do to the ground. Do escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Do shoots in looking for a takedown. Hammond tries to sprawl out of it but Do keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hammond manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hammond accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hammond tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Do avoids the attempt from Hammond to control.
Do tries to control but Hammond wriggling away.
Do is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hammond is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Bryce Hammond has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
